Improvements at Blackrock Park & The Plunge trail

A new patio just a few yards from the parking area welcomes visitors.

The mountain's Blackrock Park & The Plunge Hiking Trail has undergone a multi-phase transformation over the last several months. Work will be done in time for the ribbon cutting set for Friday afternoon, May 3rd.

The parking area is redone, new landscaped areas with extensive plantings have been added, and the magnificent view has been re-established. WPOA has also constructed a hardscape observation area at the top of the trail. The trail is difficult to navigate so the materials to build the trail were brought in by hand.

WPOA is partnering with the Wintergreen Community Foundation to complete this project, increasing the accessibility of the iconic view and improving the existing trail.

This partnership will transform this park, making the spectacular views accessible for generations of Wintergreen owners and guests. Read more about the Wintergreen Community Foundation.

The Plunge Trail has had major improvements making it easier to hike, but short trail (350 yards) is still challenging.
