Very restrictive burn ban in place

Any outdoor fires other than a propane fire are subject to the ban. A violation could result in a Class 2 misdemeanor charge.

As of Wednesday night (October 9), there is a strict county-wide ban on outdoor fires in Nelson County.

As a result of exceptionally dry conditions, the ban adopted by the Nelson County Board of Supervisors is very restrictive, Wintergreen Fire & Rescue Chief Curtis Sheets announced today via Alert Wintergreen.

The ban includes properties within Wintergreen. The ban is set to expire in 60 days. Property owners are responsible for making sure guests are aware of this ban. Any outdoor fires other than a propane fire are subject to the ban. A violation could result in a Class 2 misdemeanor charge.
