There is a new, official source for the popular Wintergreen mountain home signs and mailbox posts for Stoney Creek.
Last year the Wintergreen Property Owners Association found Dick Billings to take on the task long-held by Lester Hibbs. The high level of service Hibbs provided continues. Not only will Billings build the custom signs and posts, but he will install them as well.
Under the agreement with WPOA, Billings is the starting point for ordering a custom sign or mailbox post. He'll draw up the design and submit it to the property owner and–at the same time–send the proposal to WPOA's Architectural Review Board for approval. Payment is made directly to Billings.
Billings says that his business is something to keep him busy in retirement. The shop is in his garage at his home in Charlottesville's Forest Lakes subdivision. Except for some occasional help from his son, it's a one-man operation. He uses a CNC router to make the WTG mountain signs.
Wintergreen is not Billings' only client. He offers his services to businesses and other neighborhoods as well.
The prices include installation, removal and hauling away any old signs or posts. Billings says he has found mailbox posts in Stoney Creek that were previously set in concrete. "When I find these, more work is required to remove them. Additional charges may apply," he notes.
