On Getting Mail and Packages at Wintergreen
FedEx and UPS deliver to the door of Wintergreen mountain homes, while the US Postal Service will not deliver to homes in private communities. (Stoney Creek homes do get mail at the curb, the mountain homes do not.)
For Wintergreen mountain homes using the mailbox kiosk on top of the mountain, this is the best address format to cover all services:
- Firstname Lastname
- Street number and street name
- RR1, Box [your box number]
- Roseland, VA 22967
Stoney Creek gets mail to their WPOA-approved mailboxes at each home, while mountain homes need a Post Office box.
Mail delivery is not available to the homes of property owners who live on the mountain. Instead, mail for mountain homes is delivered by the US Postal Service in Roseland, Va., to the mailboxes near the Wintergarden (pools and spa) at the top of the mountain.
There is a FedEx Express drop-off box in Nellysford in front of the real estate office, across from the grocery store.
Mailboxes may be applied for by calling WPOA at 434-325-8526. Initial starting fees are $70, including the $45 annual usage fee, a $20 key deposit and a $5 admin fee. The annual renewal fee of $45 (the rate is set by the US Postal Service) is due April 1. (Instead of using the mountain-top mail kiosk, some mountain homeowners chose to rent PO boxes at the Post Office in Nellysford, Va.) See WPOA's webpage on mailing services HERE for the official rules and details.
