Tye River Project: Moving toward the $2,000 goal

I want to thank everyone who has so generously contributed to Mountain Homesteaders' Community Outreach program.

We are continuing to sponsor Tye River Elementary by purchasing school supplies to be delivered to the school the first week in August. (See more details HERE.)

We have exciting news to share: One of our members has generously offered to match any donations, up to $1,000, for our Tye River project. This includes any money collected at our events or online donations. On behalf of the Mountain Homesteaders Board, thank you to our anonymous donor for this match and thanks to all of our contributors.

Our shopping for this will take place in July. In October, we will be purchasing winter coats, gloves, hats, and scarves to be delivered by the first week in November. (Anyone who would like to help with shopping or with delivering can email me at solomosb@verizon.net.)

Last year we collected right around $1,800, including monies that the membership voted on allowing the Mountain Homesteaders to add to our totals which were collected. This year we have set our goal a bit higher at $2,000.

Our feedback from the school has been positive. They are very thankful for our support. Please consider contributing to this very worthwhile project. There is a huge need by this school and I am so very proud of our membership for helping. I have no doubt that we will reach our goal this year. Thank you, everyone. –Sue Solomon, Outreach Chair
